What I do
I recognise that every child (and family) is unique and that children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates.
I support each child's learning by responding to their individual interests and emerging needs.
I encourage children to explore and engage with their world through playful, stimulating and creative activities.
I create an environment that enables children to develop their critical thinking skills and encourage children to find their own solutions to the day to day challenges they face.
I ensure that every child is included and supported through equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice. I support them to gain confidence in their own abilities.
I protect children from potential harm.
I give children opportunities to experience a rich language environment; to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves; and to speak and listen in a range of situations. Story time is a special time which I encourage daily.
I provide opportunities for young children to be active and interactive; and to develop their co-ordination, control, and movement.
I help children to understand the importance of their physical development and to make healthy choices in relation to food and activities.
I support children in developing a positive sense of themselves (and others) and help them to form positive relationships based on respect.
I offer choices and teach the consequences of those choices. I help them to develop their social skills and learn how to manage their feelings and to understand how to behave appropriately in a social setting.
